Training Facility
Our first PSA-funded project will be building an indoor hitting facility for our female athletes. Our male athletes have a dedicated space to use in inclement weather and during the off-season but our female athletes do not have a dedicated area to train.
The existing set up is all outdoors making the space ineffective, and useless in inclement weather and throughout most of the year in Iowa.
The PSA believes our female athletes deserve to have the opportunity to train and complete in facilities that are of the same caliber as their peers. With your help, we can bring together the financial resources of individuals, families, and businesses to support making this happen.
This facility will provide our female athletes a place to work out in the winter months and during weather that prohibits them from practicing outdoors during the season. Our youth programs will also have access to this space to help build our programs and equip our female athletes with a space to work out and improve their skills. Helping our community fill the gaps to provide our athletes with facilities and equipment they can be proud of, will make a huge impact on our student-athletes for years to come.
WHY A TRAINING FACILITY?
Currently our female athletes have no where to hit in inclement weather. Even the slightest rain makes the pitching machine completely useless and dangerous.
Why not use the baseball shed? While this seems like a good idea, all of the team’s equipment is different and would have to be hauled to the shed which is not an efficient solution. Not to mention the boys would most likely need to use the same facility in inclement weather.
Issues with current hitting area
- No cover
- A slight rain or dew makes the pitching machine completely useless and dangerous
- The designated pitching area is collapsing
- Currently using event center for pre-season
